The exact cause of dandruff is unidentified. However, some of the conditions like dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriases, cradle cap, and contact dermatitis may cause it. Dry skin is the most common cause of dandruff. Dandruff occurs when the scalp sheds away its skin as flakes in hair. They tend to grow in size and also accumulate dirt and oil. It can be painful, uncomfortable and often embarrassing too. Every so often we suffer from this irritating skin disorder of scalp, and if we are fortunate enough, we get it cured permanently without it coming back ever. However, it can be a nightmare for those who suffer from it daily.
If you are experiencing this irritating scalp problem, you have two solutions to fight with it. You can either control it with expensive products or can cure it inexpensively using natural home remedies. Here are a few remedies that can help you eliminate and control dandruff permanently.
1. Cider Vinegar
Cider vinegar is also useful for dandruff treatment. It will keep your pores free from sebum buildup. Rinse your hair with cider vinegar after washing for one week. After you rinse, rub your scalp with your fingertips for about 2 or 3 minutes. When you are done, place 3 or 5 drops of tea tree on your hands and rub it into your hair, vigorously.
Beets are also a useful herbal formula in the treatment of dandruff. Boil both the tops and the roots in water. (White beet seems to be preferable for this purpose). This water should then be massaged into the scalp every night with the fingertips.
Use of curd has also proved to be very effective home remedies for removing dandruff. 2-3 tablespoons of curd should be applied to the scalp and kept for about half an hour. After the application, you can then wash the hair with a mild herbal shampoo.
4. Argan oil
Many have attested in its ability to stop dandruff on the hair. If the roots of the hair and the scalp itself are well-moisturized and highly nourished, there is certainly no room for hair particles such as dandruff to grow in it.
Diet plays a vital role in the treatment of this problem. If you want to get rid of dandruff, you should resort to a high intake of fruit diet for about 6-7 days. Fresh fruits such as apples, orange, grapes, pears, pineapples, and grapefruits can be included in your diet. Citrus fruits and dried stewed or tinned fruits should be avoided to cure dandruff.
All these natural remedies will certainly help control that painful scalp condition that often puts you in an embarrassing situation. You must use these methods for at least a month to see some useful results. Every condition is not same. Hence, you may need to try various remedies to find out what suits you the best.
